Health Center Services and Information
Walk-in Services
Walk-in services are offered only for emergency contraception appointments. Booking an appointment in advance could decrease wait times.
If you need emergency contraception (morning after pill), you can walk in any time the health center is open.

Appointment Information
Birth control refill pick ups are available Birth control refills are available during business hours. Please contact the health center for more information.
We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.
Specialty Services
Pills by Mail is available at this health center — a service that delivers birth control pills to your home each month. Patients with a current prescription for some of the birth control pills that we offer at our health center can order Pills by Mail.
Payment Information
Medicaid accepted.
Fees for services are based on your household income.
You will not be turned away because of your inability to pay.

Abortion Services in Springfield, IL
Springfield Health Center offers the following services:
- abortion pill (medication abortion)
- pre- and post-abortion patient education
- post-abortion follow-up exams
- referrals for other abortion services, as needed
Here’s what you need to know about abortion services at this health center:
Abortion Pill (Medication Abortion)
Abortion pill (medication abortion) is offered up to 9 weeks after the start of your last menstrual period. If your last period was more than 9 weeks ago, we can still help. Call us for a referral list of health care providers in your area that offer other abortion services.
Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only.
During the abortion pill (medication abortion) visit, you must agree — before you start — that you will have an in-clinic abortion if the abortion pill does not work.
After your abortion pill visit, you will need access to a telephone, transportation, and backup medical care available to you once you are home.
Other Abortion Services Information
Please do not bring children with you to the health center.
If you take any medications, please continue to take these medications normally before your appointment.
During your visit, you may be given the following:
- a pregnancy test
- a chance to speak with a trained staff person about all of your choices: abortion, adoption, and parenting
- a conversation with the health care provider about your health history
- lab tests/blood work
- a pelvic exam
- an ultrasound
- medications to make the abortion more comfortable
- medication if you are Rh negative
- antibiotics or other medications
- birth control information
- a birth control method

Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have been previously made.
Abortion services may be covered by your insurance. If you want to use your insurance, please be sure to bring in your insurance information at the time of your visit.
Medicaid accepted.
If you are uninsured, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance for your procedure. You can confidentially find out if you qualify by calling us at 217.544.2744. If you are eligible for financial assistance, you may be asked to bring documentation with you to the health center.
