Walk-in Services
Walk-in services: emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, HIV testing, birth control refills, HOPE renewals for established clients. Please call the clinic to ensure appropriate staff are there to meet your needs.
All other services require an appointment.
If you need emergency contraception (morning after pill), you can walk in any time the health center is open.

Appointment Information
Birth control refill pick ups are available during all clinic hours.
At this health center you can come in for appointments that do not require a medical exam. For example, birth control education and supplies; emergency contraception (morning after pill); pregnancy testing and counseling; STD testing; testing and treatment for urinary tract infections
We provide educational materials specifically for people with developmental disabilities.
We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.

The Sitka Clinic receives funding to serve low income patients through the Federal Title X program. The cost of your visit depends on your income, family size and insurance coverage.
We bill all insurances, knowing your deductible and co-pays will help us determine your cost. Please be sure to bring a current card with you.
We also bill Medicaid please bring current coverage verification.

Birth Control Services
Sitka Health Center offers the following birth control methods:

Here’s what you need to know about birth control at this health center:
If you qualify, you may be able to receive certain birth control services without a pelvic exam.
If required, you may have to schedule a Pap test or a breast exam before getting a hormonal birth control method.
In order to obtain an IUD, we may first require an exam and a Pap test.

Here’s what you need to know about getting emergency contraception (morning after pill) at this health center:
Emergency contraception is available over the counter for women and men 17 and older. If you can’t make it in to a Planned Parenthood health center, you may be able to get emergency contraception at a nearby pharmacy.
Women under age 17 can get prescription emergency contraception following a visit with a Planned Parenthood health care provider.
Women under age 17 can obtain emergency contraception (morning after pill) directly from a pharmacist through an agreement with physicians in the area. If you can’t make it in to a Planned Parenthood health center, you may be able to get emergency contraception directly from a pharmacist at a nearby pharmacy.

We may refer you to a primary care physician if your test results are not in a healthy (normal) range.

Price ranges for our general health care services are:
- General health care tests and visits are not covered under the Title X family planning program. Patients will be expected to pay at the time of service, we do not offer these services for free. You can expect to pay between $40-200 depending on your income, number of tests, and visit length. Please call the clinic for more information.
Some services may have additional charges for lab and blood work.

HPV & Hepatitis Vaccines
Sitka Health Center offers the following vaccine services:
- HPV vaccine (Gardasil)
Vaccines are available:
- By appointment on:
- Mondays: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
- Wednesdays: 8:00am - 10:00am
Here’s what you need to know about vaccine services at this health center:
Children and adolescents younger than age 19 may qualify for the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program, which provides free vaccines. Some health centers may charge a low administrative fee for this service.
Women ages 19 - 26 who have no health insurance and meet financial criteria may qualify for the Merck Vaccine Patient Assistance Program to receive the HPV vaccine (Gardasil) at no charge.
Some vaccines are given in a series over the course of several months, which would require you to return to the health center to get the full benefit.
Prices and Payment Information
Price ranges for our vaccine services are:
- HPV vaccine (Gardasil) for an individual injection - $0-160
- HPV vaccine (Gardasil) for all three injections - $0-480
- Vaccines may require an office visit fee of $50

Here’s what you need to know about getting pregnancy testing and services at this health center:
Our pregnancy tests are urine tests. We will only draw blood for a pregnancy test if it’s medically needed or upon patient’s request.
If you choose to continue a pregnancy, we will provide you with a list of resources to help you obtain prenatal care.
If you learn you are pregnant and decide to terminate the pregnancy, we will provide you with abortion services or refer you to an abortion provider.

STD Testing & Treatment
Sitka Health Center offers the following services related to the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs):
- STD testing, diagnosis and treatment, including:
- bacterial vaginosis (BV)
- chlamydia
- genital warts
- gonorrhea
- herpes
- HIV (testing and diagnosis only)
- syphilis
- trichomoniasis (trich)
- Other STD testing, diagnosis and treatment services are also available. Please ask our staff for more information.
- STD prevention, including:
- condoms
- HPV vaccine
- STD/safer sex education

Here’s what you need to know about STD testing and treatment at this health center:
We can test for gonorrhea and chlamydia using a urine sample. If this test shows an infection, then we will provide you with treatment and explain how your partner(s) can be treated.
For testing involving urine samples, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, do not urinate or engage in sexual intercourse for one hour before testing.
Many STD tests require a genital exam.
HIV testing is done by a blood draw. The results are available in 7-10 days.
Counseling and confidential (private) testing for STDs are provided by trained staff who are sensitive to your needs and concerns.

- Visit costs for STD testing vary depending on the number of tests done, complexity of visit with provider, your income/# of dependents, and other insurance coverage you have. If you are under 24 years old you may qualify for very low cost testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia through the Infertility Prevention Project. Call the health center for specific details on the cost of your visit.

Women's Health Services
Sitka Health Center offers the following women's health services:
- checkups when you have a reproductive/sexual health problem
- breast exams
- cervical cancer screening
- mammogram referrals
- menopause and midlife — testing and treatment
- Pap test
- urinary tract infections — testing and treatment
- vaginal infections — testing and treatment
- Other services we may provide include help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.
Women's health services are available:

Here’s what you need to know in preparation for a women's health visit at this health center:
Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina 48 hours before your pelvic exam. It is best if you are not having your menstrual period for some types of visits. Contact us if you have questions.
Checkups for gynecological concerns may require a pelvic exam.
For the testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, we will need to collect a urine sample at the time of your visit.
For the testing and treatment of vaginal infections, a pelvic exam may be required.
We offer education and treatment for menopause and midlife issues, including non-hormonal treatment(s).
Referrals for mammograms require a breast exam within the last 6 month(s).
A Pap test is sometimes needed during a routine checkup.
Cervical cancer screening requires a pelvic exam and Pap test.
