Walk-in Services



Whenever possible, this center provides services on a walk-in basis, however, they are not guaranteed. Because of scheduled patients, you may be asked to wait or to schedule an appointment for another date.

Appointment Information

Birth control refill pick ups are available for patients with a current prescription from our center everyday from open to close. If you need a three-month method check-up, please call to make an appointment. If you are unsure if you need a check-up, please call the center.

We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to check in and complete paperwork.

Payment Information

"HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?"

That depends on the services and testing you get, your age, and your financial situation. This is only an estimate; your price will be based upon services received at your visit. It's rarely more than the listed prices and most people qualify for discounts, up to as much as 100% of the cost.

  • Birth Control Consult: up to $96, including one cycle of birth control
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases screening/Problem: up to $135 + medication if necessary
  • Pregnancy Testing: up to $67
  • Annual GYN Exam: up to $247 (including labs and STI testing)
  • Emergency Contraception (Plan B or "Morning After Pill): 17 and older: $35 over-the-counter
  • Emergency Contraception (generic): up to $56 including visit, medication and approval for one year.
Planned Parenthood accepts nearly all forms of insurance, including Medicaid. For specific information about which health insurance plans PPSP accepts, click here.

  • Fees for services are based on your household income
  • You will not be turned away because of your inability to pay
  • Payment is expected at time of service.
  • Payment plans are available for many services.
  • If you are under 18, Castor, Elizabeth Blackwell, Locust Street, West Chester and Coatesville Health Centers will waive your fees for services.

Some charges associated with your services may be covered by your insurance or a state- funded program. If you want to use your insurance, please be sure to bring in your insurance information at the time of your visit.

Women's Health Care in Philadelphia, PA

Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center offers the following women's health services:

  • checkups when you have a reproductive/sexual health problem
  • breast exams
  • cervical cancer screening
  • mammogram referrals
  • menopause and midlife — testing and treatment
  • Pap test
  • urinary tract infections — testing and treatment
  • vaginal infections — testing and treatment
  • Other services we may provide include help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.

Women's health services are available:

  • on a walk-in basis: Walk-ins are taken based on the center's appointment schedule. Patients walking in for services may experience a wait of up to two hours.

Here’s what you need to know in preparation for a women's health visit at this health center:

Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina 24 hours before your pelvic exam. It is best if you are not having your menstrual period for some types of visits. Contact us if you have questions.

Checkups for gynecological concerns may require a pelvic exam.

For the testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, we will need to collect a urine sample at the time of your visit.

For the testing and treatment of vaginal infections, a pelvic exam may be required.

We offer education and treatment for menopause and midlife issues, including non-hormonal treatment(s).

A Pap test is sometimes needed during a routine checkup.
