From Capital Beltway:
Take Exit 31B Georgia Avenue. Follow Georgia Avenue for approximately 1 mile and take a right on Spring Street. 1400 Spring Street is located 1.5 blocks on the left.

From Washington, DC:
Take 16th St to Spring Street. Turn right on Spring Street. 1400 Spring Street is located 1.5 blocks on the right

Parking:
Street parking and garage parking are available. There is metered parking in front of the building on Spring Street. There is also a parking garage located at the end of 1st Avenue.

English; Spanish; Interpretation by telephone available for other languages. Arrangements for interpretation can be made. Advance notice is requested to ensure availability at time of appointment.

Health Center Services and Information

Walk-in Services

Walk-in services always include: Pregnancy testing, Emergency Contraception, and HIV testing. Depending on patient volume, walk-ins will also be accepted for STD screening, well woman exams and starting birth control with medical history/ screening.

All other services require an appointment.

If you need emergency contraception (morning after pill), you can walk in any time the health center is open.

If you are uninsured, you may qualify for a state-funded program or a lower fee scale. Please bring the following documents:


- Photo ID



- 2 pay stubs from the last 30 days or a bank statement from the last 60 days showing 30 days of activity

OR

- W2 from the previous year or letter (on letterhead) stating your income for a specific time period

OR

- High School ID, report card, or current high school class schedule

Appointment Information

Birth control refill pick ups are available Birth control refill pick-ups are available during business hours with current prescription on file. Calling in advance will decrease wait time.

At this health center you can come in for appointments that do not require a medical exam. For example, birth control education and supplies; emergency contraception (morning after pill); pregnancy testing and counseling; STD testing; testing and treatment for urinary tract infections

We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to check in and complete paperwork.

Silver Spring Center offers the following women's health services:

  • checkups when you have a reproductive/sexual health problem
  • breast exams
  • cervical cancer screening
  • colposcopy
  • cryotherapy
  • hormone replacement therapy
  • LEEP (treatment of abnormal pap)
  • mammogram referrals
  • menopause and midlife — testing and treatment
  • Pap test
  • sexual response education
  • urinary tract infections — testing and treatment
  • vaginal infections — testing and treatment
  • Other services we may provide include help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.

Women's health services are available:

  • on a walk-in basis: Walk-in services are available based on patient volume.
  • during all business hours by appointment

Here’s what you need to know in preparation for a women's health visit at this health center:

Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina 24 hours before your pelvic exam. It is best if you are not having your menstrual period for some types of visits. Contact us if you have questions.

Checkups for gynecological concerns may require a pelvic exam.

For the testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, we will need to collect a urine sample at the time of your visit.

For the testing and treatment of vaginal infections, a pelvic exam may be required.

We offer education and treatment for menopause and midlife issues, including non-hormonal treatment(s).

Hormone replacement therapy requires a routine checkup or records of your current exam.

A Pap test is sometimes needed during a routine checkup.

Cervical cancer screening requires a pelvic exam and Pap test.

Prices and Payment Information

  • comprehensive (routine) gynecological exam visit - $0-200
  • problem-focused gynecological visit - $0-125
  • cervical cancer screening - $0-280

Some services may have additional charges for lab and blood work.
