Take Exit 50 (Main St. Hartford). Proceed up the hill past the Crown Plaza Hotel. Turn right onto Main St. Go straight (3 lights) until you get to a fork in the road. Bear to the left onto Albany Ave. Stay on Albany Ave. and cross over Garden St., Sigourney St., and Woodland St. Turn left into the health center driveway just before McDonald's.
From 91 North or South:
Take Exit 32 (Trumbull St.). Go straight. At the 3rd light take a right onto Main St. Go straight 3 lights. When you see a fork in the road bear left onto Albany Ave. Stay on Albany Ave. and cross over Garden St., Sigourney St. and Woodland St. Turn left into the health center driveway just before McDonald's.

Health Center Services and Information
Walk-in Services
Birth control refill pickups, birth control services without a pelvic exam (if qualified), emergency contraception, pregnancy tests, rapid HIV tests (results in 20 minutes), and STD screening (no symptoms) for women and men are available on a walk-in basis up to one hour before closing.
If you need emergency contraception (morning after pill), you can walk in any time the health center is open.

Birth control refill pick ups are available during business hours
At this health center you can come in for appointments that do not require a medical exam. For example, birth control education and supplies; emergency contraception (morning after pill); pregnancy testing and counseling; STD testing; testing and treatment for urinary tract infections
If you are coming in for an employment or school physical, please bring the required forms with you.
We provide educational materials specifically for people with developmental disabilities.
Specially trained staff and medical equipment are available for people with physical disabilities.
We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.

Specialty Services
Pills by Mail is available at this health center — a service that delivers birth control pills to your home each month. Patients with a current prescription for some of the birth control pills that we offer at our health center can order Pills by Mail.
Payment Information
Medicaid accepted.
If you are uninsured, you may qualify for a state-funded program or a lower fee scale.
Fees for services are based on your household income.
You will not be turned away because of your inability to pay.
We accept the following forms of payment:

Payment is expected at time of service.
Checks are accepted ONLY for gynecological services, and may not be used to pay for abortion services.

Women's Health Care in Hartford, CT
Hartford North Center offers the following women's health services:
- checkups when you have a reproductive/sexual health problem
- breast exams
- cervical cancer screening
- colposcopy
- cryotherapy
- hormone replacement therapy
- mammogram referrals
- menopause and midlife — testing and treatment
- Pap test
- urinary tract infections — testing and treatment
- vaginal infections — testing and treatment
- Other services we may provide include help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.
Here’s what you need to know in preparation for a women's health visit at this health center:
Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina 24 hours before your pelvic exam. It is best if you are not having your menstrual period for some types of visits. Contact us if you have questions.
Checkups for gynecological concerns may require a pelvic exam.
For the testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, we will need to collect a urine sample at the time of your visit.
For the testing and treatment of vaginal infections, a pelvic exam may be required.
We offer education and treatment for menopause and midlife issues, including non-hormonal treatment(s).
Hormone replacement therapy requires a routine checkup or records of your current exam.
A Pap test is sometimes needed during a routine checkup.
Cervical cancer screening requires a pelvic exam and Pap test.
Prices and Payment Information
- comprehensive (routine) gynecological exam visit - $92-$196
- colposcopy - $135-$200
- cryotherapy - $125-$150
- endometrial biopsies - $61-$144
- hormone replacement therapy - $32-$87
- menopause and midlife - testing and treatment - $185-$263
Some services may have additional charges for lab and blood work.
Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have been previously made.
Abortion services may be covered by your insurance. If you want to use your insurance, please be sure to bring in your insurance information at the time of your visit.
