On Wednesday July 15, 2009, the Hawaii State Legislature overrode Governor Lingle’s veto on SB 777, which provides for Comprehensive and Medically Accurate Sex Education. Receiving 22 ayes of 25 in the Senate and 43 ayes out of 51 in the House of Representatives, SB 777 became law.
Thanks to your persistence, we were able to get this bill heard, supported and passed. Hawaii’s youth will now be able to receive the comprehensive sex education they need to make healthy and responsible choices about sex. At Planned Parenthood of Hawaii we are very proud of and thankful for all of our friends who helped make this happen.
