SUPPORT:
HB 2819 - Restore Medicaid WHP Bill
Relating to establishing a demonstration project for preventative health care services, and implementation of related outreach activities. It's clear that the need for quality, affordable and cost-saving health care in Texas has never been greater. If passed, the "Restore Medicaid WHP Bill" would bring Texas' share of program costs back to 10%, rather than 100% of a $40 million a year price tag that Texans are currently paying.
OPPOSE:
SB 521/HB 1057 - Removing Local Control of Sex Education
Relating to the provision of and parental approval for a student's participation in human sexuality and family planning instruction in public schools. This legislation will take these important decisions out of the hands of parents and educators and place them in the hands of politicians.
SB 537 - Back Door Abortion Ban
Relating to minimum standards for abortion facilities. This bill places onerous requirements on health care centers that provide safe, legal abortion and does nothing to improve the health or safety of women. Many of these medically unnecessary regulations are impossible to comply with and are only designed to limit a woman's access to safe and legal abortion.
SB 97 - Outlawing Medication Abortion
Relating to distributing or prescribing abortion-inducing drugs; providing penalties. This bill is not based on science, but on politics. It is not designed to protect patients, but to make it more difficult for a woman to access safe and legal medical care
HB 2364/SB 25 - 20 week ban
Relating to abortion at or after 20 weeks post-fertilization. Laws banning abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy would take a deeply personal decision out of the hands of a woman and her doctor and have devastating consequences when a woman is experiencing medical complications.
