Notice to Women's Health Program Patients

Effective January 1, 2013

We are saddened to report that Planned Parenthood patients are no longer allowed to receive services through the Texas Women’s Health Program, due to a new rule created by state officials and the politics of Texas Governor Rick Perry. Even though we can't provide WHP services today, we care deeply about your health. We will continue to do our best to work with each of you to meet your health care needs, regardless of your financial or economic status.  Please note: this is an ongoing process, so please check back for updates.

Planned Parenthood offers health care that is high quality, affordable, non-judgmental, confidential, and easy to schedule. You can request an estimate of the cost of your exam when you make your appointment. If you are a WHP-eligible client, please ask our staff about payment options for your services. Also, we accept:

  • Cash
  • Check
  • MasterCard/VISA
  • Private insurance (BCBS at select locations)
  • Medicaid

As a nonprofit organization, Planned Parenthood receives donations from the local community and donors. As a result, your health care exam may be available at a reduced cost to you. Ask our staff about Planned Parenthood's patient assistance fund.

Background: Planned Parenthood has filed suit against the State of Texas in order to be able to continue to ensure that our WHP clients can count on Planned Parenthood. Indeed, nearly 45% of WHP clients in Texas count on Planned Parenthood health centers. While we await the court's decision we are no longer able to provide appointments or health care under the WHP.

Planned Parenthood is here for you no matter what and we will work with you to get you the health care you need today. Call 1-800-230-PLAN for more information or to make an appointment at a Planned Parenthood health center near you.

To learn about WHP providers in your area, please speak with our health center staff for a referral. You may also visit the Texas WHP website at or call 1-800-335-8957.

If you believe that you should be able to choose your own health care provider, rather than the Governor making this decision for you, visit to let Texas politicians know that Texas women are capable of choosing their own health care provider--one that they trust and can count on.
