Menopause Services

As women grow older, their ovaries produce less and less estrogen. As a result, many women experience urinary difficulties, hot flashes and night sweats, vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. There are several methods available to address these discomforts. Finding the best combination of methods takes time.

Some use hormone replacement. Others use vitamins, layering of clothing or personal lubricants--it depends on the problem.

The decision about what to do is a personal one. Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa clinicians take the time to talk with women about menopause and whether to take hormone therapy (HT), natural hormones or other measures.
