The Iowa Planned Parenthood Affiliate League’s Prevention First Lobby Day was on Tuesday, February 13th. Our Planned Parenthood activists were visible from the moment we stepped inside the State Capital dressed in lime green ‘safety’ vests promoting the Prevention First agenda. Each vest left a ‘Prevention’ impression and message as we paraded through the building and held meetings with our legislators.

An encore to the day long lobby was a visit with Iowa’s pro-choice Governor, Chet Culver, who vowed his continued support for the Prevention First agenda! (see photo) 

Lobby Day Results:

• 36 Prevention First lobbyists
• 40 personal meetings
• 10 legislators had information left for them
• 100+ virtual activist communications (phone or e-mail)

Thanks to the commitment and dedication which helped support the issues and daily work of our local Planned Parenthood, the Prevention First Lobby Day was a definite success!
