Our History

Planned Parenthood of East Central Michigan was founded in 1964 (under the name "Flint Community Planned Parenthood Association") with a shoestring budget and a small core of dedicated workers and volunteers.  In 1970, the Shiawassee County site was added and in 1992, we added the Burton health center.  2004 saw the opening of the Tri-Cities health center in Saginaw.

PPECM is governed by a 22-member elected Board of Directors representative of the diverse community that we serve.  They are responsible for establishing policies and strategic plans as well as developing and authorizing program initiatives, and monitoring the progress of PPECM.  Other volunteers serve on various committees and assist in numerous programs and events.
