ABOUT OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Planned Parenthood of East Central Illinois.  Our team of hard-working, dedicated volunteers allows us to continue providing our communities with high quality, personal, affordable reproductive healthcare services and education. 

As a volunteer at PPECI, you'll feel like a member of our team.  Our volunteers gain work experience and the satisfaction of helping their neighbors.  Among other benefits, volunteers earn access to free or discounted health center services.

VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteer opportunities are available in our health centers in Bloomington, Champaign, Effingham and Ottawa and at our administrative headquarters in Champaign.  Most opportunities can be completed on a volunteer basis or for internship credit.  Most require a six month commitment.  Some of the currently available opportunities include:

Insurance Coordinator
The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for assisting PPECI to develop relationships with insurance companies so more insurance plans are accepted in our health centers and access to our services improves.  The Coordinator is responsible for contacting companies and completing the acceptance process to establish PPECI as a network provider.  This volunteer does not work in the Health Center or interact with patients.

Development Assistant
The Development Assistant is responsible for assisting the Fund Development staff to meet its yearly fundraising goals.  This position assists in tasks related to fundraising, event planning and other areas.  The Development Assistant does not work in the Health Center or interact directly with clients.  This position requires a commitment of at least 10 hours per week for at least 5 months.

Volunteer Program Assistant
The Volunteer Programs assistant will work to develop and promote volunteer opportunities at PPECI by developing contacts, improving processes and data management, and recruiting volunteers across the service area.  This position does not work in the Health Center or interact directly with clients.  This position requires a time commitment of up to 15 hours per week. 

Community Connections Coordinator
The Community Connections Coordinator is responsible for researching community organizations that provide services that can assist our patients, including health care services outside of our scope.  The Coordinator will establish referral relationships with these organizations and develop presentations and materials to facilitate these connections.

Health Center Translator
The Health Center Translator is responsible for assisting patients with limited English skills during their appointments by explaining various procedures and instructions.  The Translator can also assist in setting appointments, selling supplies, and other tasks.
