“Beers of Winter” Tasting Event Set for Friday

BLOOMINGTON-The second annual “Beers of Winter” beer tasting event, hosted by McLean County Friends of Planned Parenthood, will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 26, at Fat Jack’s, 511 N. Main St. in Bloomington.

Proceeds from the event will help finance free and reduced-price gynecological examinations and cervical cancer screenings for new and returning patients at the Planned Parentood health center, 318 E. Washington St., Bloomington.

Last year’s event paid for 40 such exams and screenings. Women wishing to make an appointment for a free or reduced-price examination and screening may call the Bloomington Planned Parenthood health center at 309/827-4368.

Tickets are $20 and are good for samples of 10 “Beers of Winter” and entry into a drawing for a savings bond donated by Heartland Bank and Trust Co. They may be purchased at the door or in advance by Jan. 19 at the health center.

In addition to the beer tastings and appetizers from Lancaster’s Fine Dining, the event will feature a raffle for an I-Pod.
