Patients' Bill of Rights

This is your Patients' Bill of Rights, or the rights to which you are entitled as a patient of Planned Parenthood of Delaware. We hope you will ask questions or give us your comments regarding these rights.

  • The right to be treated with respect.
  • The right to consent to or refuse any treatment or tests.
  • The right to be told how to take your medicine and what is going to happen to you today.
  • The right to ask for another health care provider.
  • The right to keep information about your visit and all records private.
  • The right to emergency care.
  • The right to ask questions and get answers.
  • The right to leave Planned Parenthood of Delaware against medical advice. Planned Parenthood will not be responsible if you leave against advice.
  • The right to refuse to be a part of a study or research.
  • The right to complain if there is a problem.
  • The right to know, to be heard, to be treated as a human being.
  • The right to have a trained staff person of your choice be with you during an exam.
  • The right to choose a contraceptive method that is medically safe for you.
