Why does integrating behavior change theory into our programs matter? Simply increasing knowledge may not change risky behaviors. Evaluated models, “programs that work,” reduce unintended pregnancy and STD infection by including specific behavior change factors in their design. During this training you will gain skill in using proven strategies to help your clients reduce their risk of unintended pregnancy and acquiring HIV/STD infections. In our work we may need to assist someone in making a difficult decision or to shift focus away from a group participant who inappropriately dominates an activity.
