Mothers and daughters can bet he best of friends but talking about sexuality and growing up can be difficult and awkward.
Planned Parenthood of Collier County offers two Mother-Daughter workshops, one for ages 9-12 (Program I) and one for ages 13-16 (Program II), to promote open and honest communication between mothers and daughters.
Program I deals with such issues as puberty, body changes, body image, trust and friendships.
Program II explores topics like dating, self-esteem, pregnancy prevention, and the dangers of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Each Mother-Daughter Program consists of 5 sessions and costs $75. Scholarships are available.
