Planned Parenthood of Central PA began as the Maternal Health Clinic in York, PA in 1935. It was founded by a group of volunteers from York's leading society women who recognized that during the Great Depression there was a tremendous need for women to be able to space the births of their children. A great tradition of volunteerism continues at PPCP with approximately 85 volunteers providing 4,505 hours of service to our affiliate and clients.
