We offer the following services:
GYNECOLOGICAL SERVICES
Women should have an annual breast and pelvic exam as part of their preventative health regimen. The exam will include a breast exam, an internal pelvic exam, a Pap test, and other laboratory tests if appropriate.
BIRTH CONTROL AND EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION
We have a range of contraceptive methods available for you such as: the Pill, female condom, condom, IUD, diaphragm, DepoProvera®, NuvaRing®, Implanon®, contraceptive foams, creams, jellies, films, and suppositories. Our staff will discuss with you all available methods and assist you in deciding which is the best option for you.
Emergency Contraception (also known as Plan B, or “morning after pill”) is a safe and effective way to prevent a pregnancy after unprotected sex. It is effective for up to five days after unprotected intercourse. Emergency Contraception is available on a walk-in basis at all of our centers.
PREGNANCY TESTING AND OPTIONS COUNSELING
All of our centers provide walk-in pregnancy testing and options counseling. Urine pregnancy tests are accurate at the time of the first missed period. A nurse or counselor will discuss the results with you and answer all of your questions. You can obtain information about birth control methods, or information about where to obtain prenatal care, adoption or abortion services. This information is given in a client-centered manner and focuses on your individual needs and concerns. Respecting your right to choose is at the core of our mission.
HIV AND STI TESTING AND COUNSELING
At PPCNJ, we offer screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (Chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea and syphilis) for both women and men. We also offer rapid HIV testing and HIV counseling at all of our centers and are able to give you a preliminary reading within half an hour.
COLPOSCOPY
For patients whose Pap test results indicate possible abnormalities, we offer colposcopy – a special method of further examining the cervix and surrounding tissue. The results from this test determine what treatment is needed. We offer this service in both Monmouth and Middlesex Counties.
ABORTION SERVICES
PPCNJ provides first trimester abortions by vacuum aspiration or medication depending on gestational age, medical indications and patient preference. We offer referrals to other licensed providers as needed.
MIDLIFE COUNSELING AND TREATMENT
Menopause is one of the major turning points in a woman's life. If you are like most of today's women, you will live a third of your life after menopause. We urge you to plan ahead for what could prove to be one of the most rewarding and enriching times of your life.
SCHOOL OR WORK PHYSICALS
Let us take care of your work and/or school physical exam for you at an affordable price. Please be sure to bring all required forms with you.
