IUD
If you choose the IUD (Intra-uterine Device), your clinician will put a small "T-shaped" device made of flexible plastic in your uterus. The IUD contains either copper or hormones that keep sperm from joining the egg. You and your clinician will decide which is the right type for you.
The IUD is a long-acting contraceptive method that may be effective for 5-12 years, depending on the type of device used.
