Originally established in 1966 as Anchorage Planned Parenthood League, Inc., the organization was primarily educational. The first medical clinic was established in Anchorage in 1980. In 1982 the name was changed to Planned Parenthood of Alaska. There are now medical centers in Sitka (est. 1983), Soldotna (est. 1989), Fairbanks, and Anchorage.
