Male Health Services
Planned Parenthood is not just for women. Men need sexual healthcare too. Planned Parenthood of Alaska (PPA) provides quality, confidential medical services, educational programs and counseling for men of all ages.
Testing & Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
Protect yourself and your partner by getting tested and treated. Men often have no symptoms of STIs. The only way to know for sure if you have one is to be tested.
PPA offers urine STI testing and treatment to men at all four clinics.
HIV Testing
PPA offers traditional blood-draw tests as well as Rapid HIV tests, both of which are confidential. If you would like to schedule an appointment or need someone to talk to please call 1-800-230-PLAN for the PPA clinic nearest you.
Condoms
Condoms and spermicide are currently the only forms of birth control available to men besides sterilization.
Condoms prevent pregnancy by preventing sperm from reaching the egg. They are only effective if used every time you have sex. Latex condoms are also the most effective way to decrease your risk of giving or getting STIs and HIV. Condoms are low-cost to no-cost at Planned Parenthood of Alaska clinics.
Vasectomy
Vasectomy is permanent birth control for men. About 500,000 men in the U.S. choose vasectomy every year. It is chosen by men who have completed their families or by men who do not want children. These men want birth control that is intended to be permanent. They prefer vasectomy because most reversible methods are less reliable, sometimes inconvenient, and may have unpleasant side effects for their sexual partner. Vasectomy is nearly 100 percent effective, is intended to be permanent, is safe and doesn't limit sexual pleasure. PPA's Anchorage and Fairbanks clinics offer this procedure.
