Local Education & Training
"Planned Parenthood will ensure that sexuality is understood as an essential lifelong aspect of being human, and that it is celebrated with respect, openness, and mutuality."
Our Philosophy
The Planned Parenthood of Alaska (PPA) Education Department provides education on a range of sexual health topics in a variety of educational and community settings. We are guided by the PPA Mission which is to "support the lifelong health of Alaskans and to help ensure that every child is a wanted child." We believe that providing accurate information about sexual development, healthy relationships, methods of birth control including abstinence, and the importance of getting good clinical care we will support Alaskans' responsible decision-making around sexuality.
Our training programs include the above but also seek to empower parents, teachers and other professionals to increase conversation about sex and sexuality with the youth they care about. Our programs include the latest pertinent statistics and employ interactive teaching strategies. PPA educators provide classes, workshops, tables of information at health fairs and special events.
