Giving customers the power to make a difference with every call they make

New York, NY — Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) has announced the launch of a wireless service that actively connects consumers to the people and causes they care about.

The service, Planned Parenthood Wireless (PlannedParenthoodWireless.com), will provide an impressive 10% of revenues generated directly to PPFA, transforming a simple phone call into a personal act of support. Offering a unique wireless program that enables consumers to choose where their mobile phone dollars go without sacrificing quality service, Planned Parenthood Wireless features competitively priced individual and family plans, and popular cell phones loaded with key features. The service is handled exclusively by Working Assets, using the all-digital, nationwide Sprint® network that reaches more than 250 million people.

In every monthly bill, Planned Parenthood Wireless subscribers also will receive information about how they can get more politically involved, including a “Free Speech” offer of up to 30 free minutes of calls a month for members to speak out on women’s health issues.

“Planned Parenthood members care passionately about women’s reproductive health and rights,” said Cecile Richards, PPFA president. “Now they have a smart, simple way to support our work and express that passion with every phone call they make, through a wireless service provider that cares.”

Planned Parenthood Wireless is powered by Working Assets, a progressive company whose mission is to provide consumers with easy ways to make a difference by generating donations to worthwhile causes every time persons use its services.

The two organizations have a history of collaborating in activist outreach, including defeating the South Dakota abortion ban, fundraising appeals and the 2004 March for Women’s Lives in Washington D.C., widely considered the single largest demonstration event in our nation’s capitol.

“Both our organizations are committed to preserving the right to choose and Planned Parenthood Wireless offers a powerful activism platform,” said Working Assets CEO Laura Scher. “We all have to make choices in our lives but for Planned Parenthood supporters, this should be an easy one.”

This new wireless phone service builds on Planned Parenthood’s growing mobile activism efforts, such as registering members in its SMS text messaging alert program to effectively rally supporters around urgent issues that require immediate action. With up-to-the-minute mobile phone alerts, members benefit from immediate news and information on policies impacting women’s health and reproductive rights, staying connected to the issues affecting the Planned Parenthood community and the millions of women, men and teens served by Planned Parenthood each year.

Additional benefits of the service include free calls between Planned Parenthood Wireless members and friendly customer service provided by Working Assets. New customers can keep their current mobile phone numbers and will receive a free LG225 camera phone as well as free activation and shipping. Those who sign up by March 31 are also eligible for a contract buyout offer, up to a $175 credit for their carrier’s termination fee. For full contract buyout details or more information, visit PlannedParenthoodWireless.com or call 888/801-6465.
