"Today we've lost a steadfast ally in the fight for women's health and rights. Our thoughts are with Senator Specter’s family. Throughout his distinguished career, Senator Specter was a tireless champion for women and a true friend. He was, quite simply, always there for us. Senator Specter trusted women to make our own health care decisions, which made him a target of the extreme faction of the Republican Party. He spoke for millions of Republicans and Independents in Pennsylvania and across the nation. There will never be another Arlen Specter, but we need more leaders like him."
