“Planned Parenthood applauds the Obama administration and Congress for finding a way to avoid the fiscal cliff without jeopardizing women’s access to health care. The public clearly wants to ensure that women have access to health care and the providers they trust, and this agreement protects those goals. Congress still faces additional budget decisions in the months ahead, and Planned Parenthood will continue to fight to protect the health care women rely on, including Medicaid and Title X.

“While Americans clearly voted in support of affordable and accessible preventive health care, we’ve already seen that some legislators continue to try to limit services such as breast and cervical cancer screenings and birth control. Without the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and Title X, millions of women simply would not get health care. One in five women has relied on a Planned Parenthood health center for health care, and our focus is on ensuring that women can get birth control, cancer screenings and preventive care, regardless of their income. We will work to ensure that policymakers develop long-term fiscal solutions that protect women's access to health care.”
