Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is honored to be designated as a top-ranked nonprofit by the philanthropic experts through Philanthropedia.

The organization surveys large groups of experts, who have an average of eight–20 years’ experience in nonprofit work (foundation professionals, nonprofit senior staff, academics, researchers, etc.), and asks them to identify some of the highest-impact nonprofits working in their sector. Experts surveyed by Philanthropedia rank nonprofit organizations based on their success in carrying out their respective mission and evidence they are having a high impact on their issue of focus.  Philanthropedia is a nonprofit organization that helps donors make smarter donations by connecting them with some of the highest-impact nonprofits in a cause.

“Planned Parenthood is so thankful for the millions of committed donors and supporters who have made it possible for us to carry out a simple mission for nearly a century — to provide high-quality health care to people in communities across the country,” said PPFA President Cecile Richards. “This designation by Philanthropedia is truly an honor and we are grateful that nonprofit experts recognize and respect the work we do to carry out Planned Parenthood’s mission.”

"We are thrilled with the results of our women's reproductive health, rights, and justice research! We were very impressed with the extensive, thoughtful, and thorough assessments experts had about Planned Parenthood for America,” said Erinn Andrews, chief operating officer for Philanthropedia. “This organization clearly has had a major impact on the field and we're excited to highlight them on our site. What's most significant about this recognition, I believe, is that it is a sign of peer-approval, not only from other nonprofits working in the sector, but also from well-informed funders and researchers.”

Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. Planned Parenthood Federation of America is ranked second in a field of 19 stellar organizations in the National Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice category. For 94 years, Planned Parenthood has worked to improve women’s health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible choices.

Every year five million women, men, and teens worldwide rely on Planned Parenthood for high-quality, affordable health care, information and education.  Planned Parenthood affiliates operate more than 825 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men, and teenagers each year. Nationally, more than 90 percent of the health care provided is related to prevention — including wellness exams, contraception, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment. Each month, two million people visit www.plannedparenthood.org for medically accurate information about their sexual and reproductive health.

Today, the work of Planned Parenthood is carried forward by more than 30,000 staff members and volunteers who provide health care and education, work to protect reproductive rights and ensure access to quality, affordable care for all, and support women’s health and rights in developing countries around the world.
