Singiser currently works in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs.

She brings more than 15 years of legislative, policy, and political experience to PPFA, where she will lead the government relations department to advance PPFA’s mission with national and state policymakers.

Over the course of her accomplished career, Singiser has worked for two presidents, two senators, and five presidential campaigns.

“Dana Singiser is a highly respected advocate.  We’re thrilled to have someone of Dana’s experience and caliber be a part of our team as we focus on expanding access to health care and making the new health care reform law a tangible reality for women across the country,” said PPFA President Cecile Richards.

Singiser joins a unique organization.  Planned Parenthood is both a trusted health care provider and a leading advocate for women’s health.  One in five women has turned to Planned Parenthood at some point in her life for professional, nonjudgmental, and confidential care.  Planned Parenthood also represents more than 5.7 million activists, supporters, and donors, and works with officials at the federal, state, and local level to shape pro-women’s health policies.

“Dana brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Planned Parenthood, and she will be instrumental in our effort to fulfill the potential of the new health care reform law and ensure that all women have access to the affordable, quality health care they need,” said Dawn Laguens, PPFA Executive Vice President for Public Policy, Advocacy and Communications.

Singiser has been with President Obama since his first day in office.  She was a key part of the legislative team that helped pass the historic health care reform law that strengthens women’s health, expands access to health care for millions, protects women against gender discrimination by private insurers, and requires insurance companies to cover preventive care with no co-pays.

Prior to working in the Obama administration, Singiser held leadership positions on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, as well as then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign, where she focused on women’s outreach.

Singiser’s experience on Capitol Hill is also extensive.  For three years, she was Staff Director for the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee.  There, she worked under the leadership of former Senator Clinton and Majority Leader Harry Reid.

“I first came to know Dana Singiser when she worked on the Hill and then as she led women's outreach for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2008,”said Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).  “She's smart, tenacious and committed to women's health and protecting the right to choose.  She is the right person at the right time to lead Planned Parenthood's Washington, DC legislative efforts and protect women's access to health care."

Earlier in her career, Singiser worked for President Bill Clinton, both in the White House and the Department of Commerce. Additionally, she worked on both President Clinton’s presidential campaigns and Howard Dean’s campaign for president.  Singiser is a lawyer and has practiced law at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld.

Singiser grew up in Vermont and has an undergraduate degree from Brown University and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
