Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee Offers Help to Women Affected by Hurricane Katrina
Nashville, TN — During the month of September, Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee will provide free contraceptive care to any woman from Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
"During a tragedy of this magnitude, it is our responsibility to do whatever we can to help other Americans whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina," said Jeff Teague, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee. "We know that thousands of displaced people are already in Tennessee with family and friends and we are expecting more to arrive in the coming days. Anything we can do to help to minimize or lessen the disruption and help them begin the slow process of re-building their lives, we are prepared to do."
Women and their families in Tennessee can call 1-800-230-PLAN, or 615-321-7216 or visit www.ppmet.org for information about the closest Health Center location.
