Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards to Receive Honorary Degree from Brown University
NEW YORK, NY — Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) today announced that Cecile Richards, president of PPFA and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, will receive an honorary degree from Brown University for her dedication to civic leadership and public service, and her commitment to voting rights, education and advocacy. Richards is a 1980 graduate of Brown University.
“This is truly an honor. To this day, I treasure my time as a student at Brown University where I was able to build upon my family’s value of public service and commitment to social justice,” said PPFA President Cecile Richards. “I am humbled to be honored among such courageous leaders as Nelson Mandela, David Rohde and Romila Thapur, and with the preeminent Pulitzer Prize-winning historian of the American Revolution and my former professor, Gordon S. Wood.”
Cecile Richards is a nationally recognized progressive leader. Before joining Planned Parenthood, she served as deputy chief of staff for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, founded and served as the president of America Votes, and established the Texas Freedom Network. You can read her full bio here.
