(Wilmington, DE) — Planned Parenthood of Delaware announced its new website today at  With new ways to donate, learn about sexual and reproductive health topics, schedule an appointment and get active on public policy issues, the website is a bold step into the new media universe.

“Planned Parenthood of Delaware has always been on the cutting edge, but our new website takes it to a whole new level,” said Nanci Hoffman, President and CEO of PPDE.  “People can now follow us on Twitter, friend us through Facebook or MySpace, or read about current topics in our weekly blog.”

Website Features:

Blogging:  Reaching the Under 30 Crowd

The weekly blogs are written by the PPDE Education Department and seek to inform on today’s hot topics.  A recent blog discussed female genital cosmetic surgery and its growing popularity.

Representing the 20-something crowd who live in the new media universe, Rebecca Roberts, Educator/Trainer PPDE Blog author, said “When I write the blogs, my goal is to communicate in a fun and informative way.  Blogging keeps people up-to-date in a constantly changing world.”

Sexual and Health Information Resource

Perhaps the most important feature is the medically-accurate information on sexual and reproductive health. Offered in partnership with national Planned Parenthood, the site offers information on birth control, emergency contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, abortion, sexual orientation and gender, and more.

“The site serves as a wonderful resource for those who want to get the facts on important health issues,” said Dr. Anne Marie D’Amico of PPDE.  “As a physician, I know it’s sometimes hard for clients to discuss these sensitive topics and the new website serves as a good starting point.”
