December 9th, 2010 (DES MOINES, IA) – Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa (PPECI) have signed a management contract with intent to merge into one affiliate sometime in 2011. The expanded organization will be named Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.

"Every year we have done more and more collaborative work with Planned Parenthood of the Heartland,” says Vanessa Solesbee, PPECI Board Chair. “PPECI and Planned Parenthood of the Heartland have the same mission: to provide affordable, accessible health care, sexual health education, and advocacy for the rights of our clients. Merging into one affiliate will provide an opportunity to expand services for women, men and families in eastern Iowa,” says June.

The expanded organization will offer new services including adoption, sexual assault exams, male services, age appropriate education programs and more.

After the merger in complete, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland will have health centers located throughout Nebraska and 91counties in Iowa.
