September 28th, 2011 – Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota’s (PPMNS) Board of Directors voted unanimously to oppose the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage that will go before Minnesota voters next year.
“Planned Parenthood has always stood up for people’s right to make life’s most profound and intimate choices,” said PPMNS Board Chair Sarah Dodge. “All people, regardless of their sexual orientation, should be free to make their own choices about love, commitment and relationships.”
“Planned Parenthood works everyday to ensure the health and well-being of all Minnesotan families because we know that strong families are fundamental to strong communities,” said Sarah Stoesz, President and CEO of PPMNS. “A community flourishes when its members are treated equally with fairness and respect. Building discrimination into Minnesota’s Constitution is destructive and PPMNS is standing proudly in opposition.”
The PPMNS Board is comprised of health care providers and executives, legal and financial experts, and other business and community leaders.
