July 24, 2012 (OMAHA, NE) – In partnership with the Avalon Center out of Mason City, Iowa, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland now offers adoption services in Nebraska. Avalon Center, which received licensing through the State of Nebraska, is an adoption agency that provides options counseling and adoption services to individuals and families facing unintended pregnancy.

Avalon Center will have offices at Planned Parenthood’s health centers in Lincoln and Omaha, with set office hours and a 24-hour phone line for individuals and families interested in pursuing adoption. Avalon staff also is able to meet with people anywhere across the state.

“While we’ve always counseled women and families on all of their options – adoption, parenting and abortion – we now have licensed adoption professionals in our health centers who can help women navigate the next steps in pursuing an adoption plan without having to seek those services at a different facility,” said Jill June, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.

“Since 2004 we have enjoyed a wonderfully successful partnership with Avalon Center to provide adoption services in Iowa. Offering adoption services to Nebraska’s families is a natural and important extension of our range of services here.”

Avalon Center Director Leah Weber said, “Because we’ve had such a great partnership with Planned Parenthood in Iowa, it’s particularly exciting to bring the same services to the people of Nebraska.”
