No-scalpel vasectomy is a non-surgical procedure providing permanent birth control for men. Since it was introduced in the United States in the 1980’s, thousands of men who have completed their families or don’t want to have a biological child in the future – due to personal preference, a partner’s health risks or the fear of passing on a hereditary illness or disability – have chosen no-scalpel vasectomy as their form of birth control. No-scalpel vasectomies are over 99% effective.
“We’re thrilled to expand access to birth control options for men in the Aurora area,” said Carole Brite, PPIL President and CEO, “Vasectomies are extremely effective and are an essential component to providing a full range of comprehensive birth control and reproductive health services for men and women.”
PPIL is now offering no-scalpel vasectomy, including pain medications and follow-up appointments for less than the cost of a private doctor and much less than the lifetime cost of female contraception. Many private insurance companies cover the cost of the service. To make an appointment for a consultation, call 800-230-PLAN or visit www.ppil.org/vasectomy.
Vasectomy services are also available at the Near North health center located at 1200 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago.
PPIL has been providing reproductive healthcare services in the Chicagoland area since 1923. Each year PPIL delivers essential healthcare services, sex education, and sexual health information to more than 60,000 women, men and teens, including more than 9,000 people in Aurora.
