Bellingham, WA ó On April 23, 2009, Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood (MBPP) will host a community pub crawl to promote STD Awareness Month and the GYT (Get Yourself Tested) Campaign. GYT is about taking control of YOUR (sex) life by getting tested- and talking openly about it. We will be visiting local downtown bars to encourage open dialogue on STD prevention and familiarize the community with the local services available for testing and treatment.

Planned Parenthood is proud and excited to work with the community to inform young people about sexually transmitted diseases and infections and encourage routine testing and treatment as needed. In 2008, the CDC announced that at least one in four teenage girls has an STD, and that by the age of 25, one in two young people will get an STD; most wonít know it. This is a topic that deserves attention, especially among the youth of our community. According to MBPP clinic statistics, the largest group of patients served in 2008 fell between ages 20 and 24. So come join Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood, your friends, and your bartenders for a night on the town like no other!

 Date:    April 23, 2009
