Tuesday September 27th, 2011 (DES MOINES, IA) – It’s one of the largest book sales in the country, operated solely by volunteers, and this year the Planned Parenthood Fall Book Sale, has more new and used books than ever before. The Book Sale begins Thursday, Sept. 29 and runs through Monday, Oct. 3.

Book lovers can enjoy browsing more than 400,000 books finding everything from collectibles, children’s books, puzzles, magazines, novels, cook books, DVDs, videos, games, CDs, and more.

More than 8,000 shoppers are expected to attend the sale this week, some traveling thousands of miles from all over the country to shop the Planned Parenthood Book Sale. Opening day is a special event as some shoppers save a place in line days in advance to be one of the first through the door!

Money raised from the Book Sale supports Planned Parenthood’s education and outreach programs throughout Iowa and Nebraska. Planned Parenthood of the Heartland’s education department offers age-appropriate, research-based programs in reproductive health, human development and sexuality education for youth and adults in a variety of settings.
