Portland, OR - Concluding a nationwide executive search process, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is excited to announce Stacy James will be the organization’s new President and CEO as of June 1, 2013. James will be the sixth President and CEO in the affiliate’s 50-year history. She leaves her position as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Montana, where she led significant affiliate improvements over the past 11 years.

“Stacy is a proven leader who is committed to expanding access to affordable health care and education, and advocating on behalf of women’s health,” said Cara Jacobsen, Chair of PPCW’s Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to bring such a dynamic, experienced health care executive to the organization – especially someone who already has such deep roots in Planned Parenthood.”

In James’ most recent role as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Montana (PPMT), she oversaw five health centers, serving 15,000 patients across a vast 146,000 square miles. She directed significant growth during her time at PPMT, creating innovative mobile health centers to reach areas across rural Montana and expanding health care service offerings to include transgender care. She has also participated in a number of regional and national Planned Parenthood initiatives, including Planned Parenthood’s recent nationwide rebranding. James also led Planned Parenthood’s statewide advocacy program in Montana. Prior to joining Planned Parenthood, James served as the Executive Director for Big Bend Area Health Education Center in Tallahassee, Florida for six years, where she directed efforts for 14 counties and contributed to public policy development.

James takes the helm as PPCW embarks on several critical new initiatives, including preparations for implementing the Affordable Care Act and launching Electronic Health Records, all while continuing to serve more than 60,000 patients in Oregon and SW Washington each year.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such a tremendous organization, especially in a state where Planned Parenthood has an incredibly broad and loyal network of supporters,” said James. “PPCW has been a leader among Planned Parenthood affiliates for years. I’m excited to join this talented group of staff, volunteers, and board members and contribute to their continued growth and success.”

James succeeds David Greenberg, who served as the organization’s President and CEO for 11 years. During Greenberg’s tenure from 2001-2012, PPCW tripled the number of patients it serves and built a strong education program that now reaches more than 15,000 young people annually.

James has a B.S. in Allied Health Services from the University of North Florida and an MBA from the University of Montana. She and her family can’t wait to move to Oregon, and they look forward to exploring the state.
