Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) today announced the appointment of Sarah Newhall as its interim CEO. PPCW’s Board of Directors selected Newhall based on her experience managing large and diverse nonprofit organizations, her knowledge of the Portland area community and advocacy skills, and her recent experience of seamlessly leading three regional organizations through executive transitions.

Sarah Newhall is an adept, strategic and experienced executive who has 40 years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in the nonprofit and public sectors, both nationally and globally. She has worked throughout the globe on issues of democracy and governance, community development, and women’s empowerment. She was President and CEO for nine years at Pact, Inc., a $160 million nonprofit global development organization. Most recently, she held interim management positions at SMART (Start Making a Reader Today), YWCA Salem, and the Museum of Contemporary Craft as these organizations searched for new leaders. Newhall holds a Master of Public Administration from Portland State University.

PPCW’s Board of Directors is already in the midst of a national search for a new president and CEO with the cooperation of Peak HR Consulting. Newhall will start at PPCW on July 23, and will serve as interim CEO until a permanent president and CEO is hired.
