(DES MOINES, IA) – It’s another record setting year for the Planned Parenthood Book Sale. The five day sale raised $232,707.11, nearly fifteen-thousand dollars more than last year’s Fall Book Sale.

With more than 500,000 new and used books, magazines, puzzles, collectible and more, the Fall Book Sale was bigger than ever before. More than 8,000 shoppers traveled to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the five-day event.

Money raised from the Book Sale supports Planned Parenthood’s education and outreach programs throughout Iowa and Nebraska. Last year our education department worked with more than 40,000 youth and adults.  PP Heartland’s education programs offer age-appropriate and research-based programs in reproductive health, human development and sexuality education in a variety of settings.

The Education Department also includes three Education Resource Centers with libraries in Des Moines, Lincoln and Omaha.

With more than 600 volunteers, Planned Parenthood’s semi-annual book sale is known as one of the largest charity book sales in the nation. A sale is held every fall and spring at the 4-H Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, raising nearly $500,000 annually.

The 2012 Spring Book Sale is Thursday, April 19th – Monday, April 23rd.
