MEMPHIS, TN – A Memphis performance group is planning four performances during February to benefit Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region.

V-Day Memphis (PPGMR) is a group of local women, led by music promoter Elizabeth Cawein, who host a performance night called The Memphis Monologues, then perform Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues each year, with the proceeds going to Planned Parenthood’s health and education programs.

The Memphis Monologues takes the concept behind Eve Ensler’s play The Vagina Monologues and reimagines it for Memphis women. This year it features all new performances by former Tennessee Senator Beverly Marrero; actress, writer, director and producer Savannah Bearden; singer Deborah Swiney; Shayla Lawerence; Amanda Quillen; Rev. Stacy Smith; Jakatae Jessup and many others.

This free event is for those age 21 and older and also features cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction with one-of-a-kind items and packages donated by Memphis artists and merchants. Debit and credit cards will be accepted.
