MEMPHIS, TN — Today the Memphis City Council adopted a resolution recognizing Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region’s Board Chair Nora Boone for her extensive volunteer work.

The resolution, sponsored by Memphis City Council Member Janis Fullilove, calls Ms. Boone “a woman of tremendous character, whose life is devoted to work, civic duty and helping others....” The resolution especially recognizes Ms. Boone’s organizing of a “Help Haiti” fundraising event on January 14th; just two days after an earthquake devastated the Caribbean island.” It also recognizes Ms. Boone’s volunteer work with the Juvenile Court’s CASA program, Hope House, Ronald McDonald House and many other Mid-South civic and charitable organizations.

Nora Boone has served on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region for four years. In July of last year, she assumed the position of Board Chair. Ms. Boone is a tireless supporter of reproductive rights, reproductive health care and comprehensive sexuality education. She brings considerable talent, expertise and passion to PPGMR’s Board of Directors and plays a key role in steering PPGMR’s policies and fundraising activities.

Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region CEO Barry Chase said of Nora Boone, “PPGMR is fortunate to have Nora on the Board of Directors. Her energy and commitment inspire us to continue our mission to bring needed reproductive health care and education to men, women and families of the Mid-South.”

PPGMR is proud to join the Memphis City Council in recognizing Nora Boone’s significant contributions to our community.
