AKRON, OH — Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio (PPNEO) President and CEO, Tara Broderick, was recently elected to the national Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) Board of Directors. She will be one of four affiliate CEOs serving a three-year term on the 29-member national Board.

Ms. Broderick has worked with Planned Parenthood since 1992 as both a volunteer and in affiliate management. During her 18-year involvement, she has served as a volunteer Board Member and Vice-Chair at Planned Parenthood of the Susquehanna Valley (formerly Capital Region) and volunteer Board Member and Officer at Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland. At the peak of her career in health care management, Ms. Broderick joined Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland in 2000 as Chief Operating Officer, a position she held until 2005 when she was named CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland and oversaw Planned Parenthood’s first five-way merger. Since 2007, she has led the merged affiliate, Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio, as President and CEO. She also serves on the PPFA Public Policy Steering Committee.

Prior to joining the Planned Parenthood staff, Ms. Broderick was with University Hospital Health System in Cleveland where she was the Executive Director, UHHS Provider and Central Verification Organization, Medical Management Support. Ms. Broderick also previously served as Executive Director of Prudential HealthCare, Inc. in Cleveland, OH and Assistant Vice President in Planning and Administration at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine’s The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center where she managed development of hospital and physician practices and satellite medical facilities.

Ms. Broderick received her B.S. in Community Development from Penn State University, her M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University and her M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Broderick was an Honoree in 1992 for the Tribute to Women and Industry Award in Harrisburg, PA.
