Increased Access to Services in Marquette
MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan (PPWNM) is pleased to announce expanded clinician exam hours at its Marquette Health Center! PPWNM has hired an additional physician assistant (PA) to its team of highly qualified, long-term clinicians.
We are extremely excited to expand clinician hours to better serve the Marquette area, said Sheri Pospeck, RN and center manager. We will now have four days available for patients to make appointments instead of just one. This will allow us to serve more women and families in our community during these difficult economic times.
Additionally, PPWNM has expanded its cancer screening capability to include ThinPrep Pap screening. The ThinPrep Pap Test is the only Pap test that is FDA-approved as "significantly more effective" at detecting precancerous cervical cells. It is also the only liquid-based Pap test that is FDA-approved for human papilloma virus (HPV), so clients do not have to undergo multiple sample collections. PPWNM continues to provide annual gynecological exams, sexually transmitted infection screenings and treatment, and birth control evaluation and distribution.
The Marquette Health Center is located at 1219 N. Third St., Marquette, Michigan, 49855. Services can be scheduled by appointment or accessed on a walk-in basis (depending on availability) during normal business hours: Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday 11 a.m. to 7p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment call 906.225.5070.
PPWNM offers special benefit programs for persons without insurance or limited ability to pay for services and accepts Medicaid, BCBSM and many other insurance plans. Contact the Marquette Health Center at 906.225.5070 to learn more.
